Second Annual Befana Raffle
Our annual Befana Raffle happens on January 6, the day of the Epiphany. According to lore, the night before the Epiphany, the Befana visits homes around the world, leaving gifts for children in their stockings. Featuring prizes donated by beloved businesses and creatives in the community, we fundraise for a local organization or non-profit.
This year, we are supporting ASTT(e)Q, a non-profit organization, which aims to promote the health and well-being of trans people through peer support and advocacy, education and outreach, and community empowerment and mobilization. Their work is especially important in a climate and context where this year's discussions around Bill 2 put the bodily autonomy and safety of trans folks in jeopardy.
To show support and allyship from Montreal's Italo-Canades* and beyond, we are once again raffling off prizes from some of our favourite and well-loved businesses in the city. Join us in celebrating the ancient tradition of la Befana, with roots in Roman pagan practices, while giving back to our community and speaking out against injustice.
Help us reach our fundraising goal of $5000 by purchasing tickets!
Prizes will be updated over the next few weeks. If you would like to donate a prize for the raffle, please contact us at ciaomtlorg@gmail.com before January 4, 2022.
Check out our first annual raffle, as well as last year's generous donors.
